Show Parent's Committee Awaits Answer From School Board A committee of five repre-) repre-) senting the residents of the Country Club Heights area spearheaded a drive this week to get action from the Salt Lake Board of Education in regard to the construction of a school in that area. The main result so far obtained, according to Lawrence Law-rence H. Sessions, 2527 E. Commonwealth Com-monwealth Ave., is that the school board has consented to extend the school bus service as far east as 25th East on 21st South. The bus formerly stopped stop-ped at 23rd East. Mr. Sessions added that he is awaiting receipt of a letter from the board in answer to five questions put to the board by Ohis committee at a meeting held last Tuesday night. He asked for, (1) information on the cost of transporting pupils into the city, (2) estimates of prewar and present costs of building the proposed pro-posed Dil worth School, (3) amount of the present building fund, (4) present bonded indebtedness in-debtedness of the school system, sys-tem, and (5) the district's legal debt limit. The board's answers to these question will probably determine his committee's fu ture action, Mr. Sessions said. Attending the meeting with Mr. Sessions were committee members, E. H. Buntjer, 2148 Wyoming St., and Murray Mo-ler, Mo-ler, 2406 E. 21st South. Two other men, Jack Lake, 2522 Commonwealth, Com-monwealth, and Albert Jensen, 1948 Redondo, serve on the committee, but were unable to attend1 the meeting. The southeastern committee was assured that the board was very much concerned about their problem and asked the parents of the Country Club Heights to "be patient" while things are worked out. Mr. Sessions Ses-sions announced that his committee com-mittee would be glad to comply -nj ssaiun 's;sanbaa p.reoq u.iia. ture developments showed that no steps toward alleviation of the problem were being taken. "Our committee was organized to see to it that our children get a better arrangement for school attendance and we will work until we see that accomplished," accomplish-ed," Mr. Sessions said. Contents of the school board's letter will be announced when he receives it, Mr. Sessions concluded. |
