Show Sugar House Businessman To Head New Zealand Mission General authorities of the LDS church reached into the heart of ' Sugar House last week and select- ed Sidney J. Ottley to be president presi-dent of the New Zealand Mission. Mr. Ottley, founder of the Paint Pot store on Highland Drive, will replace Gordon C. Young as head of the mission. He leaves Oct. 4 for mission headquarters at Auckland and will be accompanied accom-panied bv his wife and a son, Gerold, 17 The local business man will be returning to a country, where as a young man, he served on a mission mis-sion for four years. During this time he was on the faculty of a church sponsored agricultural school. Mr. Ottley has long been a civic worker in Sugar House and has been a very active member of the Chamber of Commerce since its organization in the community. The new mission president is chairman of the high priests' quorum in East Mill Creek ward and has served as ward bishop in Idaho and Utah communities. Son Gerold plans to continue his mufical education in New Zealand while sons Warren S. and Wayne W. will manage the enterprises of Ottley's Incorporated Incorpo-rated during the absence of the senior member of the firm. |
