Membership of the committee of judges that will pass on the winning design for a projected memorial to be raised in honor of the dogs that will have fought and died in World War II. has been announced by Harry Miller, executive secretary of the Gaines Dog Research Center, which is offering an award of $500 to the person submitting the most acceptable ac-ceptable design idea or sketch. The members of the committee are: Lowell Thomas, radio commentator com-mentator and dog fancier; Helen Menken, star of stage and radio who is a pioneer in work for the Stage Door Canteen and the Army's K-9 Corps; Dr. Samuel Mil-bank, Mil-bank, New York sportsman and president of the Westminster Kennel Ken-nel Club; and George Ford Morris, Mor-ris, one of America's best known animal artists. May 1st, 1945, is the deadline for entries in the memorial design competition. Merit of the submitted submit-ted idea will count for more than artistic execution of the finished sketch. Ideas or sketches should be sent to the committee in care of Harry Miller, Gaines Dog Research Re-search Center, 250 Park Avenue, New York 17, N. Y. The judges' decision will be final. In the event the idea or design selected by the committee shall have been submitted sub-mitted by more than one person, the one first received will have preference. |
