Show Nanvoo Coins Sent to SUP Four Nauvoo Centennial coins of 1839-1939 celebration were sent recently by George Dees?, editor of the Nauvoo Independent, Independ-ent, along with his weekly newspaper, to Harold H. Jen-son, Jen-son, coordinator of the Sons of Ptah Pioneers national organization organi-zation 'for Salt Lake and Tooele Counties. Mr. Jenson gave one of these coins to the SUP Museum Mu-seum at Sugar House and, through Pres. Fred E. H. Curtis, Cur-tis, a framed picture of the late Pres. George Albert Smith, with Pres. Curtis ,md Mr. Jen-son Jen-son in uniform of the Mormon Battalion, taken in March, 1950, at the time they asked President Presi-dent Smith to make the reenact-ment reenact-ment of the march with them. President Smith's address at Los Angeles is also recorded. The SUP has , this entire program pro-gram on wire tape, which can be placed on records at any time and preserved for future history. Mr. Jenson, at the presentation presenta-tion of this picture at the Mormon Mor-mon Eattaion Trekkers of 1950 reunion held in the Tribune-Telegram Tribune-Telegram auditorium, referred to Horace A. Sorensen's interest inter-est in keeping the museum aive. and the work of Nicholas G. Morgan Sr. in restoring the old city hall where historic pictures pic-tures will also be kept as "living "liv-ing monument that will never die." |
