Show Local SUP Elect Barnes, Evans, Tingey, Hale To Head Group RALPH A. BAHNES, 1420 Roosevelt Ave., was elected president of the Sugar House Sons of Utah Pioneers Monday evening, Sept. 25, at the regular monthly meeting of the group. He succeeds Horace A. Sorensen, 3000 Connor St., who has served two terms as chapter president. Mr. Sorensen Sor-ensen will continue on the executive board as immediate past president. Held at the Rosecrest Ward, 3101 South 23rd East, the meeting started off with dinner, followed by a musical program. pro-gram. The main speaker of the evening was Ezra J. Poul- sen, historian-writer, who pointed point-ed out the need for the literary growth of this area. Mr. Poul-sen Poul-sen said the SUP can do a real pioneering job in the field of literature just as valuable as the early pioneers did with the physical frontier. David M. Evans, 1751 E. 4620 South, was chosen as the first vice president of the Sugar House SUP chapter during the elections following Mr. Poul-sen's Poul-sen's address. The post of second sec-ond vice president will be filled by Stanley J. Tingey, 651 Bryan Ave. Karl B. Hale, 3885 Parkview Park-view Drive, was elected third vice president. The new president and three vice presidents will meet together to-gether soon to name the other appointive officers of the group, Mr. Barnes announced. Mr. Barnes issued a special invitation to men in the Sugar House area who are eligible for membership in the SUP to affiliate af-filiate during the coming.' month. Eligibility is based on pioneer ancestry. A man must have at least one ancestor who came to the Uttah area during the pioneering period which ended with the coming of the railroad, on May 10, 1869. |
