Show Majorette Contest Open To Local Girls Girls over 14 years of age, attention! If you want a chance-of-a-lifetime opportunity opportun-ity to strut your stuff as a majorette ma-jorette of the first-ranking, 40--piece Salt Lake Letter Carriers Band at the national convention in Seattle, now's your chance. "Well-known Sugar House resident, res-ident, N. M. Valentine, president and manager of the band, this week extended a personal invitation invi-tation to all qualified southeast girls to apply for the two coveted cov-eted positions. The rules are simple, competition compe-tition keen. Girls, 14 and men from the entire state will be competing for thehonors. Judging Judg-ing will take place at 8 p.m., August Au-gust 5 at the Coliseum at the State Fairgrounds.. Uniform is up to the girl. Judging will be on poise and personality. Performance Per-formance includes (1) Finger twirl and pass around back, (2) Wrist twirl and figure eight, (3) Two hand twirl, (4) Salute, (5) Routine Ihere the contestant can demonstrate individual ingenuity in-genuity and ability. Besides the honor, the two . i winning girls will be given a ' 10-day, expense (paid trip to Seattle Se-attle with the band. This is the only majorette contest held in the area.
