Show REWION IN ARIZONA Southeasterners of 6Bus No. T Have Outing at Jacob's Lake A delightful week end in Jacob's region and Grand Canyon Can-yon in Arizona was spent, by a group of southeasterners who call themselves "Bus No. 7." Members of the group are husbands hus-bands and wives who participated partici-pated in the Mormon Battalion trek reenactment last March. They made that trip in Bus No. 7 which was the scene of many interesting experiences during the trek. Harold and Nina Bowman acted as hosts for 11 other couples cou-ples at the Bowman's lodge at Jacob's Lake. The couples left Salt Lake on Saturday . morning, morn-ing, July 1, and returned home Tuesday, July 4. In the interim inter-im they enjoyed sightseeing, picnicking. horseback riding and hiking. SUNDAY SERVICE On Sunday morning a special service was held at the lodge, where the group heard some of the fascinating experiences of "Uncle Bill" Crosby. SO year-old v.'teran of the southwest. A grandson of Jacob Hamblin, pioneer pi-oneer from whom Jacob's Lake received its name. "Uncle Bill" was personally acquainted With great personalities like Buffalo Bill and Teddy Roosevellt. He has also had long experience with the Indians of the Arizona-Utah Arizona-Utah area. A souvenir of "Uncle Bill," including pictures and biography will soon be a part of the Sons of Utah Pioneers Pi-oneers Museum at 3000 Connor St., according to Horace A. Sorensen. IN ATTENDANCE Those who attended the week end outing in addition to Mr. and Mrs. Bowman, and Mr. and Mrs. Sorensen were: Mr. and Mrs. Thomas W. Jensen; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph A. Barnes, their son and daughter-in-law; Mr. and Mrs. Arthello Bowman; Mr. and Mrs. Junius Sorensen;" Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Sperry; Mr. and Mji-s. Karl Hale: Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Hrockbank: Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bean; and Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy B. Pyper. |
