Show I; .Society DOING THE TOWN By Elaine Cannon' It's a leisurely practice that Utahns have of piling into their cars after dinner a night or so a week and ride through our lovely residential districts and see what's going on in somebody else's yard . . . you know, who's planting petunias or glads this year and whether the man of the house is actually getting the lawn cut or just talking fishing with the neighbor. . Joe Wood was working diligently on his lovely front yard the other evening. Joe and his wife, Janet, and children live in a sweet white rambler at 21CC 22nd East St. . . Saw Mark Garff waving to a passei-by as he watered the lawn in front of his home at 225G Oneida. w- And while we were cruising around this southeastern section sec-tion we waved hello to Frances and Roland Bain who were taking tak-ing movies of their four chil-dren, chil-dren, Jerry, Brent, Dennis and sweet litle Connie. The Bains live at 3504 South 27th East St. Found exciting things going on at the Lorin Richards household, 2248 Oneida. Seems that daughter, Florence, was giving a big party. She and her friends, Joyce Murdock, were hostesses to 22 boys and girls and what fun they had! The lovely Richards home was brightly lighted inside and out. On the lawns a ping-! ping-! pong table was set up, some played volley ball over a net mounted in white barrels (very clever) and others had a challenging game of croquet. Then there was dancing on the upstairs patio the kids felt really close to the stars. Highlight of the evening was the picnic food and all the trimmings served straight from the barbecue. Sound fun? It was. Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Dansie, 870 Kensington Ave., took two of their youngsters up to Brighton over the week end. It was a photographer's paradise, they said, which must have pleased Mr. Dansie no end because he is an eager photographer. Colored slides and movies of mountain scenes are his specialty and first love. Julian and Ina Cannon are so well known out this way you probably have heard about their newcomer already . , . but just for the books and posterity, pos-terity, let us hereby formally report to you that they are the proud parents of their fifth child. The little boy was born last week in the LDS Hospital. Darrell, Marilyn, Leigh and Shavvna are anxiously anx-iously awaiting the arrival home of .mother and baby, you can be sure. The household is really in a dither over this new excitement in their lives. Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Ward are all set to go to the Southern Parks this holiday week end, unless something unforseen comes up. They'll leave the children chil-dren here and go off on a second sec-ond honeymoon. |
