Show Let's Not Forget Thanksgiving WE'RE glad that there are some merchants who still remember that there is an important American holiday which comes before Christmas. We're speaking of Thanksgiving, Thanks-giving, and the people who still honor that day are the merchants mer-chants of Sugar House. Elsewhere, it seems, the retail stores are so anxious to get their Christmas profits that they start dressing up their stores, and start Christmas advertising almost two months before be-fore Dec. 25. For many of us, this widespread practice is spoiling the spirit of Christmas. Sugar House through its annual Turkey Days expresses its gratefulness for the great Thanksgiving symbol, and the significance of the day itself. When Thanksgiving is over each year, then the merchants embark on their Christmas ' campaign. ,-.,1r,WB The time period between Thanksgiving and Christmas certainly seems adequate to advertise Christmas merchandise. Let those people who wish to do Christmas buying before then do it, but for the rest of us poor mortals, let's enjoy Thanksgiving first, and then Christmas the following month. Maybe if we boycotted the stores which jumped the gun on Christmas, they might change their minds. |
