Show Sugar House Style Show Committers Report Progress With all committees reporting progress, M. L. "Bud" Brajn, general chairman of the 1948 Sugar House Style Show, announced Thursday that the entire community is eagerly anticipating the event and is planning on "going all out" to welcome the public on the evening of May 14. Mr. Brain met several times I during the week with members of the various sub-committees. In a meeting Tuesday morning with members of Mrs. Theresa Harmon's Fashion Show committee, com-mittee, the general outline of the fashion parade was discussed. Time set for the fashion show at the Plaza was 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mrs. Harmon stated that the parade pa-rade itself would be divided into eight separate parts. The queen candidates for the coveted Miss Sugar House 1948 title will appear ap-pear twice during the one-hour program as fashion models, she stated. Style Show Program Participating in this meeting were Orpha Harvey, Evelyn Sims, Leone Neilson, Mr. Brain and Mrs. Harmon. First to appear in the modeling model-ing show will be children modeling mod-eling spring and summer kiddies' kid-dies' clothing. Next the queen candidates will make their initial ini-tial appearance of the evening as fashion models. Queen contest con-test judges will be on the stand throughout the show and will judge the girls on their modeling model-ing ability. Stores featuring special ladies' apparel will next be given an opportunity to display dis-play their wares. The men will also have a chance to participate in the style show, Mrs. Harmon explained. ex-plained. Men's furnishing stores will have fourth positions on the program. Matronly fashions fash-ions will next be displayed. Final Fi-nal portion of the fashion show will be the return of the queen candidates. In the regular monthly meeting meet-ing of the Sugar House Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce Tuesday, Mr. Brain and committee workers presented Style Show plans thus ' far developed. All local business busi-ness houses were urged to participate par-ticipate as fully as possible in , the big event. Businessmen were urged to enter queen candidates can-didates and to hold open house , to the public. y Prize Drawing Plans on the prize draw.ing which will be held in conjunction conjunc-tion with and as a part of the Style Show were reveaied by chamber board members Grant Midgley, Paul Pehrson and Sidney Sid-ney J. Ottley. Mr. Midgely stated stat-ed that prizes amounting to "well over a thousand dollars in retail value," will be offered to the public. In charge of the ticket committee, Paul Pehrson Pehr-son announced that tickets would be distributed to local stores this week. Customers will be presented tickets for the prize drawing, he said. Rules were being drawn up by Mr. Ottley. He stated that the rules would be similar to those employed em-ployed at last year's drawing. Queen Contest Queen contest chairman Richard Rich-ard W. James stated that contest con-test entries had "momentarily slowed down." He said that he beileved that many of the local businesses had not yet chosen their queen entries, but would do so before contest close, May 7. "All business firms in the southeast area are eligible to enter en-ter candidates," he emphasized. Some do not understand this, he said, but everyone is invited. "The Style Show is everybody's show," he said. "We expect a great many of the local businesses busi-nesses to sponsor a girl for , queen. It's a fine way lo par-I par-I ticipate in the doings." J. Dean Fisher, prominent local lo-cal jeweler, pledged a beautiful new women's wrist watch to the girl who is chosen this year's Miss Sugar House. Numerous valuable gifts will be showered upon the lucky girl and her two attendants. |
