Thanks and appreciation should be tendered to Mrs. Irene Bird who so gratiously donated a piano, which is now in the Rock Castle for the use of the post and unit. It has been put to good use on many occasions since it has been an asset of the post home. Thank you, Irene. Bernice E. Hultquist, a daughter daugh-ter of Bernard and Ruby Hultquist, Hult-quist, who are members of the post and unit, respectively, was united in marriage to Ruben Clements of Thornton, Ida., Monday, Oct. 20, in the Salt Cmdr. Grubb, has reported that moving pictures of Germany Ger-many for the past four generations genera-tions will be shown at the next meeting of the Post at the Rock Castle, Oct. 23. The pictures are furnished through the courtesy of the Army, Lt. Lang, being gracious enough to arrange for them. A massed memorial service for the returned war dead will be held on Nov. 16 on the steps of the State Capitol for the department de-partment of Utah. It is expected that there' will be a firing squad of 500 members. Along with the massed colors and drum and bugle corps of the state this will be a very impressive ceremony. The department is going all out to make it so. Commander Grubb, will blow taps and two members of Post No. 2 will fold the flag at the' funeral of G. H. Durham, a son of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Durham, on Oct. 11. Lillian Egli, was the bridesmaid, maid of honor was Marietta Rplte. The best man was a long-time friend and acquaintance ac-quaintance of Mr. Hamilton, M-Sgt. Ralph Sewell, stationed at Wendoyer. The flower girls were Annitta Sewell, Patricia Moes and Sharran Teal. . The Legion Bowding League for Salt Lake, has gotten under way, with eight teams in comparison com-parison with four team last year. Two of the teams being of the fair sex, of Beth Humphrey, Post 88, have helped to swell the league to eight. An -organizational meeting was held at Post No. 2, Home on Oct. 15. When rules 'were formulated, schedule was drawn up, and of-! ficers elected for the season of 1947-48. Don Sims of Post No. 99 was reelected president. Mau-rine Mau-rine Park was elected vice president pres-ident to succeed her father, Bill Park, of Post No. 2. As secretary, secre-tary, Mack Pollock, of Post No. 65, was. reelected and Ken Hansen Han-sen of Post 83 was reelected treasurer. Play opened Monday night, Oct. 20, at the J. B. Quinn Drives on Second South. The attendance at-tendance was unusually good considering deer hunting at a fever pitch. Post 65, composed compos-ed of the followira, g bowlers, Ab Ward, Keith Bateman, Bill Brower, Mack Pollock, Al Wil-I Wil-I kins, and Dan Potter, won four : points to begin the season Lake Temple and held their reception re-ception at Memorial Hall in Memory Grove in the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Clements were both in the service during the last war. Bernice held the rank of lieutenant and served as a dietician, one year of which was spent in Japan. The couple met j while she was stationed at the Bushnell ' General Hospital at Brigham, and he was confined there for treatment. Congratulations. Congratu-lations. May God bless you. A beautiful reception was held for Mr. and Mrs. Jay Hamilton, the son and daughter-in-law of Past Commander Ernie Hamilton, Hamil-ton, and present unit President Pearl Hamilton, at their home |
