Show Memorial Rites For Roosevelt Slated Tonigbt An inspiring memorial service honoring the first anniversary of the death of Franklin Delano Roosevelt will be conducted Friday at S p.m. in the white maple room of the Newhouse hotel ho-tel to which the" general public is invited. The eulogy program, sponsored spon-sored by the Salt Lake County central Democratic committee, will be highlighted by addresses by Gov. Herbert B. Maw; J. Henry Hen-ry McGean, county chairman, and Gordon Weggeland. Utah director di-rector of the federal housing administration. ad-ministration. Similar services will be presented pre-sented in every state patterned along the simplicity of the principal prin-cipal observance at the site where former President Roosevelt Roose-velt is buried in Hyde Park, N- Y. The Salt Lake County service will be broadcast over a regional region-al network, KALL, from 10:30 to 11 pm. Musical numbers will be furnished fur-nished by Albert Eccles, famed Utah baritone, who will sing "Home on the Range," and "Faith of Our Father," two of Mr. Roosevelt's favorite songs. Mrs. Rulon S. Howells. well-known well-known local soprano, will open the service with the national an- Othem. and the Jacobscn string trio will accompany the artists. The various Democratic organizations organ-izations of Utah will telegraph a floral wreath to be placed on the Roosevelt grave in Hyde Park, it was also announced. dinner chairman and Mrs. Norma Nor-ma Peoples decorations. Tickets may be obtained from Mrs. E. L. Hansen. The Sugar House VFW auxiliary aux-iliary will hold their regular business meeting in the library April 17 at 8 p.m. |
