Arch took us out onto his newly-built terrace on the edge of the can-lyon can-lyon just in back of his home. The meeting was well attended and a motion was made and carried car-ried at this board meeting that the offer of Lion and Lioness Roy Hobbs to write and produce a minstrel show be accepted and will have an exhibit of fruit or vegetables. This is the first time that a project of this type has been undertaken as a region and the Salt Lake county commissioners commis-sioners and the Salt Lake county-fair county-fair board feel that much will be gained by this new cooperation from the Lions organization. LET'S ALL REMEMBER 100 PER CENT IX SEPTEMBER The annual Holladay Lions 'club tennis tournament is now ! history. This year's matches 1 turned out to be the finest that have been played on the Holladay Holla-day courts for some time. The interest shown by the more .than 100 contestants show that this project will be one of the big events of the year from now on. The winners of the 1946 events and the runners-up will be presented with medals at a meeting of the club in the near future. Lion Kay Hammond informs in-forms me that gold medals will be awarded the winners and sil , ver awards to the runners-up of each event. The winners: Roys' doubles Marlin Andrus and Delbert Selin, 6-2, 6-2; boys' singes Marlin Andrus defeated Farr Hansen, 64, 7-5,. men's singles Harold Goodro defeated Jack Wharton, 6-2, 6-2; men's doubles Jack Wharton and J. INeeley defeated Reed Belnap I and Harold Goodro, 6-3, 5-7, 7-5; ! mixed doubles Violet Ruga and Jack Wharton defeated Shirley Bemdt and Fred Lehnhoff. 6-4, 6-1; girls' singls Violet Ruga ' defeated Donna Mendenmaien 9-7, 7-5. The monies we net from tihs project will be used to help pay the costs of the Softball lighting project. Lion and Lioness Lion-ess Roy Hobbs certainly should be given a big hand for this generous gen-erous offer and the members of the club should and must get behind this project 100 per cent to make it the success that it can and must be. LET'S ALL REMEMBER 100 PER CENT IN SEPTEMBER Fifteen Lions clubs in Salt Lake county (that's 100 per cent) will participate in the annual Salt Lake County fair. Each club has selected a young lady to ride in tje parade and a queen will be selected from these 15 young ladies and the others will serve as her attendants. They will ride every night of the fair in the grand entry of the rodeo. Monday night at the SaLt Lake county fair grounds these young ladies were put through their paces and Miss Norma Day of Draper was selected queen and Dolores Huffaker of Magna-Gar-field and Delia Brady of Union were selected as attendants. In addition to having a young ladj represent each of the Lions clubs of the county, each club |
