Show WILL RAISE FUNDS i The Annual Drive of the National Nat-ional Foundation for Infantile Paralysis to raise funds with which to fight poliomyelitis, is rapidily drawing near. Utah was very fortunate this year and had only a few cases of the disease, but a large amount of money has been spent helping those who were stricken during the 1943 epidemic. Twelve of the patients were sent to Georgia Warm Springs Foundation where they received treatment which re. suited in their being returned home very materially benefitted by the treatment they had received. re-ceived. Most of them were taken to the train on stretchers, but were able to walk alone when they came back home, and this years total will be doubly important because we not only have to prepare pre-pare for the future, but also due to the wonderful strides made in the field of physical medicine and orthopedic surgery, many victims of former years, who for years have been considered hopelessly hope-lessly crippled, now find that they can be helped and for all intents and purposes become normal, self-supporting men and women. r I |
