Plans are under way for a country fair to be given by the ward as part of their welfare assignment. assign-ment. Ray Garrett is chairman of the arrangements and is working with the bishopric to make it a really super affair. Plans are being made to have it an outside event with games and all the amusements you could ask for old and young alike. The date is not definite but the latter part of August will be the time. It's babies stealing the headlines head-lines in the news this week. There's a new little grandson over at the home of LES and DORA BROTJOH on Westminster. Westmins-ter. He is the second son of DOROTHY and HAROLD CHASE, 2080 South 23rd East. It's a girl for MR. and MRS. FLOYD MILLET, 1332 Westminster. West-minster. They're new ward members. At the RULON H. SORENSON home, 1D67 Douglas there is a new arrival also, and it's a girl. Three brand new boys and one tiny little girl were brought to church by their parents on Sunday to be given names. BARBARA JO was the name chosen by the RAY GARRETTS for their new little daughter. She is named for both her paternal pa-ternal grandparents by the way. RONALD ROBERT is the name the ROBERT ROSERS gave their first son. MR. and MRS. AMASA HANSEN chose JEFFREY JEF-FREY LYNN -for their boy; the GEROLD SMITHS selected RONALD RO-NALD BERNELL for their son. From the mission field comes news of CLARK FAWSON and CALVIN PENDLETON, who when they are home are "across the street" neighbors. Clark has recently been appointed ap-pointed seond counselor to the president of the Central Pacific Mission. Elder Pendleton is doing do-ing outstanding work in the Central States Mission where he is laboring and is making many friends for himself and for the Church. Speaking of missions, MAX GARRETT has received his mission call and . will be leaving this fall for Uru- Aug. 20 at the Tracy Wigwam will be a FATHER'S and SON'S OUTING. Every father in the ward is urged to make a note of spending the afternoon there with his son, or sons as the case may be. MRS. VENICE MINGUS who has made her home at 1129 Ra-mona Ra-mona Ave. for several years will soon be moving from the ward She will be missed by her many friends here. . . The name of LYNN McPHIE, son of MR. and MRS. J R. McPHIE, 1056 Ra-mona Ra-mona Ave., has been presented to become a deacon. . . CLAU-DINE CLAU-DINE BORG and ROLAND ANDERSON AN-DERSON very capable represented repre-sented the young people of the ward in short talks given in church Sunday. MR. and MRS. PAUL P. FAWSON have as their house-guest house-guest MRS. NETTIE BRAUN, of Honolulu, Hawaii. . . GLEN CROOKSTON, 807 Bryan Ave. is the proud father of a first son. Glen grew up in the ward and is the son of MR. and MRS. KARL CROOKSTON, whose home is now in Phoenix, Ariz. . . . Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the stake house will be the fall Primary Pri-mary convention. Every officer and teacher is urged to be in attendance. at-tendance. On Saturday evening after the Elder's ball game down in Fairmont Park the fellows and their families are planning a picnic and it's sure to be lots of fun. . . MRS. LUCY TENNY and her daughter, NANCY, are the newest members of the ward genealogical committee. They were sustained on Sunday. |
