Show More Space For Business SUGAR HOUSE needs additional streets for commercial expansion. ex-pansion. Any person who has tried to find a business location lo-cation in this community knows that it .is practically impossible impos-sible to find one in the shadow of the Plaza Monument. Instead In-stead he is forced to build a new building several blocks from Sugar House's business center. For certain types of business this step is not harmful. . However for all who depend on foot traffic it spells eventual failure. The solution to the problem is to open up new business streets. McClelland Avenue and 10th East are good possibilities. possibili-ties. Putting the proposed through street from Highland Drive to 9th East paralleling the D&RGW tracks although it will not be open to business buildings will help stimulate new business locations on McClelland, 10th East, and 9th East. Ramping on the east end of Wilmington Avenue will also encourage en-courage new business growth along that street. Sugar House will never be of any real commercial importance im-portance unless it gets a more integrated business district. It needs these additional streets for new retail and service firms. The people of .the community must prevail upon the city planning and zoning commission to make this step possible. |
