Show Wendell Ashton Heads 3H Sons of Pioneers Lake City. At one time there were 5000 members in this county coun-ty alone and the aim is to get 10,000 members before July 24, 1947. Any male descendant of a pioneer pio-neer who came to Utah before May 10, 1869, the coming of the railroad, or whose progenitors were born here before that date is eligible to membership. President George Albert Smith recently joined the organization and expressed the desire that every person eligible over 18 years of age be given a chance to join. Wendell Ashton, secretary of i the Deseret Sunday School Un-1 ion. author of several books, and ' a descendent of pioneer stock, was chosen 'chairman of the newly organized Sugar House chapter. Sons of Utah Pioneers, Thursday night at the Bryan ward chapel. Dr. Lorin L. Richards was named nam-ed first vice chairman and Frank E. Lees, second vice chairman. Plans are underway for several sever-al projects which will help the Southeast district, and it is hoped hop-ed to have over 1000 members in this chapter alone. The organization was ' perfected per-fected by the Salt Lake County organization consisting of D. Branson Brinton, as chairman, Dewey Stout, first, A. T. Schoen-felt. Schoen-felt. second and Kimball Vance third vice chairman, with Paul Felt secretary. Guest speakers were Harold H. .Tenson, state president, Sons pf Utah Pioneers and, Lawrence T. Epperson, founder and organization organiza-tion chairman. It is hoped to have other chapters chap-ters organized throughout Salt |
