Show BOOKMAN'S NOTES BY AUKELIA BEXXIOV Lihr.'iri.'in, Spr.-igup Branch Public Pub-lic Ulii ary, Sugar House Have any of you read any of the "Rivers of America" series? If you have, you will be interested inter-ested in knowing that a new book is just out, and I think this one, "The Colorado," by Krank Waters will be particularly particu-larly interesting to us Utahns. If you haven't read any of the books, I should like to recommend recom-mend them, to you who are interested in-terested in the development of this United States and a history of its civilizations. Be sure to read first Constance Lindsay Skinner's beautiful e?ay giving her reasons for editing the books. After her death Stephen Vincent lionet and Carl Car-mer Car-mer became editors of the series. se-ries. Miss Skinner's essay is entitled "Rivers and American Folk" and can be found in each book that she edited. On Monday, Nov. 4, Russell Janney, author of the late book "Miracle of the Pells," will be at the Z. C. M. I. book department during the afternoon. You who want to read the book (which goes into circulation the same day here in the library) will be interested in seeing and perhaps per-haps hearing Mr. Janney. I think it always helps to understand under-stand a book to know somo-thing somo-thing of the author. |
