Show Drum and Bugle Corps Thanks People of Sugar House Last Wednesday evening at the Forest Dale club house the 29 members of Sugar House's championship American Legion Post 65 drum and bugle corps met to pose for a formal "thank you" portrait to the local businessmen busi-nessmen and citizens who so generously supported them while they were building their organization. organ-ization. According to Clifford Au Husbands, corps manager, " It was through the loyalty of Sugar House businessmen and such clubs as the local Lions, Rotary and Chamber of Commerce that made it possible to outfit the corps so that we could make the trip to the San Francisco convention con-vention as the representatives of Sugar House." As a token of their appreciation, apprecia-tion, the corps wants the people peo-ple of Sugar House to know that they are willing to participate partici-pate in any activities for the publiciy of this area. They will be happy to be of service whenever when-ever and wherever possible. In anticipation to next year's championships, the corps will be practicing this winter at the Forest Dale club house. Next fall they hope to bring back the national championship to Sugar House. This year the corps qualified qual-ified as the eleventh best senior drum and bugle corps in the nation. na-tion. By next summer they hope to build the membership up to a full 32-man playing corps. In charge of the corps, besides Mr. Husbands, manager, is Carl Brown, recently elected "secretary-treasurer. ' |
