Show WITH THE MARINES JANICE M. BEST Janice M. Best, fromerly of Salt Lake City, has been promoted from Private First Class to Corporal Cor-poral in the United States Marine Mar-ine Corps Women's Reserve. She is now on duty in the quartermasters quarter-masters section of the Department Depart-ment of Pacific in San Francisco. Corporal Best, one of the first Women Marines in Salt Laxe, is a former student of the University Uni-versity of Utah and a member of the Chi Delta Phi sorority. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Winston Best, of 1478 Sherman avenue. Other Salt Lake women interested inter-ested in joining the Woman Marines Mar-ines are invited to call at the local lo-cal recruiting office. DOUGLAS H. WILSON Gunnery Sergeant Douglas H. Wilson, whose wife resides at 515 East Second South, has been promoted pro-moted from Platoon Sergeant at his Marine Corps post in the South Pacific. He has been a Marine Mar-ine since August, 1936, and has served at a number of posts in the United States and overseas. WILLIAM E. LEYSHON Private First Class William E. Leyshon, 22-year-old Salt Lake City Marine, has "Jeen graduated from Radio Operators school by the U. S. Mari.ne Corps at San Diego. He is now eligible for assignment assign-ment to a combat unit as a communication com-munication specialist. ' He is a former student at Lincoln Lin-coln and South high schools, makes his home at 61 Hartwell avenue. THERON JAY WRIGHT Private First Class Theron Jay Wright, 29, son of Mrs. La Verne B. Wright, 1871 South 13th East Salt Lake City, recently was promoted pro-moted to his present rank from Private, somewhere in the South Pacific. He is stationed at an Marine Corps advance base post, and is assigned to duty with a supply unit. He enlisted in September, 1942. EVELYN L. SMITH While her husband is in the U. S. Navy Marine Private Evlyn L. Smith will be doing her part to speed victory by driving heavy military trucks and seeing that they are maintained in the best condition. She has just finished a four week's course at the Motcr Transport School. Camp Lo Jeune New River, North Carolina, and is now ready to take over duties that will release a man for combat com-bat duty. Private Smith is the wife of Clayton Thomas Smith of the U. S.
