Community Service Release 60. November quotas of tires for trucks will be 30 per cent lower than in October, and 14 per cent for passenger cars. Hamer S. Culp, chairman of the Salt Lake City war price and rationing board said this week. The extent of the drop in available avail-able new tires is indicated by the November quota of 290,245 truck tires as compared with 416,613 for October. The new passenger pas-senger tire quota, the chairman said, was reduced from 645,050 in October to 552,688 in November. However, more used or recapped recapp-ed passenger tires, said the chairman, chair-man, will be available, the quota for November having been increase in-crease from 648,000 in October to 829, 650 in November. The nation is confronted with a serious rubber shortage, said the board chairman, "and motorists will have to use all their ingenuity ingen-uity and care to avert a serious mass transportation breakdown." In an effort to push the cost of living back to levels of September Sep-tember 15, 1942, the office of price adminstration has reduced the cost of peanut butter from 7 to 6 cents a pound, effective after November 1. The cut in this price will be offset by a payment made by the Commodity Credit corporation to processors. |
