Show Bowling News The ladies Round Robin holds the interest of many Southeast bowlers at this time. Amy McCarty stepped into the lead in Uast Sunday's session ana now has a total of 1505 pins. Lois Thayne is second, Louise Eriick-son Eriick-son third, and Madeline Drubay is fourth. Another interesting event ev-ent is the challege doubles Match between Hugo Ensign, Norm Shultz team and Frank Haker and Doug Muir. At the end of 20 games of the 30 game match Ensign and Scultz led by 322 pins, although each pair had won a 10 game session. Sycamore, a team low in the Forest league standing nad a high total last week with 2164 and Nina Woodside' 506 .series. High game of 182 went to Ethel Wright, and Palm took the team game with 773. The Southside league was no less than sensational last week. Barnett and Weiss went on a scoring spree that netted them a league record 3004 series, a city record 1124 game, and included in-cluded C. P. Anderson's beautiful 679 series and 245 game. However, How-ever, as an individual C. Pwas ar at 679 and McCarty at 245. only good enough to tie Ray Crom while six other fellows rolled well over 600. Wayne Blood had 623 1 for his sixth consecutive series 600 in the league. Barnett and Weiss also went backward into top place with a two point lead over Deseret Lumber. Some fine bowling was evident in last week's Southeast league as well. Gardiner's Market, Ash-ton Ash-ton Heating, and Local 57 each won 4 points. In Local 57 team Harry Goodro with a pretty 657 sparked his team to a record 2908 series, but Palace Market pounded pound-ed out one game of 1027 to top all the rest. Walt Williams had a neat 258 game in a 621 series, and C. Pitts rolled 618. In the Lumbermen's league M. and M. Yard took 4 points with a Jb2o series and 925 game, and R. Keddington had 611 for high individual series. High single game went to M. Behunin of M. and M. Mill for 245. Four points each were won by Pigeon Club, Kay's Inn, and Granite Mill. Bowers Home Furnishings moved mov-ed into first place in the Cardinal Lady league last Friday night. They established a new record game of 859 and tied at 2343 for series with the Sugar Bowl. Led by Dorothy Tanner who had an excellent record 568 series, the Sugar Bowl is showing a marked improvement these last weeys. Novella Bertram of Bowers had the week's high game, 221. "Pan-Americana" comes to the University of Utah campus this week as the theme of the annual "Spinsters' Spree" dance, at which cooeds play "escourts." Instead In-stead of the customary queen who rules over most festivals, the University coeds will elect the most eligible bachelor and crown him "King of the Matadors." The University of Utah Women's Wom-en's Glee Club is giving assembly programs this week in Cyprus, Tooele, Grantsvile, and Midvale. |
