Show Mills Meet Only Half Of Army Need for Tents WASHINGTON. The army has put in such a terrific demand for tents that War Production board officials of-ficials are nonplussed. They say that the textile mills can meet only 50 per cent of the requirements. So far they have ordered 8 per cent of the yarn, intended for tire cords, to be diverted to manufacturing manufactur-ing the duck material which goes into tents. Shortly they will cut into upholstery and corduroy manufacturing manufac-turing so the duck can be turned out. They may decide to cut the manufacture manu-facture of denim which goes, just as corduroy does, into making work clothes. Most of those work clothes, however, are for military purposes. |
