Community Service Report No. 53 The longer period to be covered cover-ed by shoe stamps need not work a hardship on growing children nor on adults who have unusual shoe requirements since any one may apply to the local war price and rationing board for an additional ad-ditional shoe stamps where need is shown, according to Hamer S. Culp chairman of the Salt Lake City board. The chairman emphasized that all shoe stamps remain transferable transfer-able among members of a family living in the hosehold. The family pool thus created is designed to compensate for the normal ratio of shoes consumption of two pairs of men's shoes for each three -,pairs of women's shoes and four pairs of children's shoes. He also stated that the tires and stove rationing regulations have been amended. Under the new provisions, eligibility for new grade 1 passenger tires is restricted restrict-ed to C book drivers with a mileage mile-age of 601 or more miles per v ttionth. Thus B book holders and some C book drivers are removed from eligibility. Formerly and tar driver totaling 241 miles or more per month could obtain certificates cer-tificates for grade 1 tires for the running wheels. The change in stove rationing regulations allow dealers and distributors dis-tributors of coal and wood heating heat-ing and cooking stoves to increase their allowable inventories by 50 per cent, the chairman said. In order to get the increased inventories, inven-tories, dealers and distributors should apply at the local board offices between October 1 and October 30 to receive the adjustment. |
