Show DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH NEWS For the week ending August 4 local health officers -reported a total of 214 cases of communi-cable communi-cable diseases to the State Department of Health. Another case of infantile paral-sis paral-sis was reported bringing the total to-tal for the year to 8 cases. The patient is an adult female . and the case was reported by the health officer at Provo. Utah County also reported one case of epidemic mehigitis. ' According Ac-cording to the attending physi-cian physi-cian the patient a baby boy one year of age. Three cases of pulmonary tuberculosis tub-erculosis were reported from Salt Lake Coimty. Health officers also reported 6 case3 of acute rheumatic fever. Since January 1, 1944, 127 casea of this disease have been reported in the state. In addition to the above 6 cases of malaria were reported from Government hospitals. The totals for the week are as follows: chickenpox 27; poliomyelitis poliomy-elitis 1; measles 21. German measles meas-les 3, epidemic menigitis 1, scarlet scar-let fever 14; mumps 36; pneumonia pneumon-ia 2; tuberculosis 3; whooping cough 63; non resident cases; mal aria, 6 non-resident cases; rheumatic rheu-matic fever 7; and chancroid 1. |
