Show Mayor Jenkins Stands on Record In seeking re-election to his present position, Mayor Jenkins announces that he stands on hi3 record of achievement; and what a record it is! Examine it as you will, it reveals a consistent, untiring un-tiring effort to advance the interests in-terests of Salt Lake City. Where-ever Where-ever he has observed laxity in the enforcement of law, he has taken necessary steps to correct it. And , in this he has succeeded admirably, admira-bly, it is freely admitted. When Mayor Jenkins entered upon his duties he made it known that he would welcome any suggestions sug-gestions the public had to offer for the betterment of local con- : ditions. When such suggestions came, if he thought they were for the public good, he was not slow to adopt them. As a result great improvement has been made in the conduct of all departments under his charge. The fire department has'been equip ped with new and more modern apparatus. New stations have been built and old ones remodeled remodel-ed in various parts of the city, and others are projected. Methods in the police department have been revised to meet changing conditions, con-ditions, until today it is admitted admitt-ed that this department was never nev-er in better shape and doing more effective work. So also with the health department, which ranks high with other cities of the na-i na-i tion. Sanitary regulations are being be-ing enforced as never before, while health conditions generally are being safeguarded to keep Salt Lake as free from contagion as it is possible to do so. Mayor Jenkins has no quarrel with his opponents. He concedes to them the same right to aspire to public office that he claims for himself. He realizes that no man has a monopoly on the virtues or the ability to do things. Of course, he has made mistakes, but these hsre been made In an honest effort to play fair with the people. He lias a national reputation for honesty hon-esty and friendliness, even though his dogged determination has led him to differ with his colleagues on many important points which he thought to be for the best interests in-terests of the city. Whatever may ' be his faults Ab Jenkins is a square shooter, a friend of the people, a likeable man, easy to approach and one who realizes 1 his obligation to those who elected el-ected him.
