Utah VFW Post 3586 and the Ladies Auxiliary will give a Chrismas Party for. some of the patients at the 12th Avenue Veterans' Ad ministration Hospital on Saturday, December 19th. Two Christmas tre s have been donated by the VFW Department of Utah. They will be decorated by volunte r workers. One will be placed in the visitors' room at the 12th Avenue Hospital and the other in the patients dining room at Fort Douglas, according to Vern Yearsley, VAVS Representative Holidays in Mus'ic' Christmas program, will be given Friday, December 18th at Highland High School. You will have to get up early to hear it as it is set for 8:45 a.m. The musical production will be made up of singing and orchestral groups with 650 students participating. The teachers assisting are William Christensen and LaVar Krantz along with. the drama and art departments. All parents and friends are urged to attend. Christmas Notes Among the lovely parties of the Yule Season was a surprise lunch-eon given by Mrs. Otto Hutteman, 2447 Olympus Drive, at her home Monday noon, December 14th. Guests were members of the Mon-day Duplicate Bridge Club, Mrs. Morgan Regan, Mrs. Frank Spencer, Mrs. William Twelves, Mrs. LeRoy Messinger,' Mrs. Dwight Walton, Mrs. Tom Notestine, Mrs. ' Billie Junkins, Mrs. D. Russ Packard, Mrs. Galen Belden, Mrs. K. A. Lehner and Mrs. A. E. Robinson. After an oxquisite dinner, the club members exchanged Christmas Gifts before playing bridge in the festive surroundings. Christmas is a time for children and the Bell Telephone Hour gets into the spirit of the season by featuring some talented youngsters on its special Christ-mas program over Channel ,4 on Friday, December 18, at 6:30 p.m. Thomas Mitchell, the veteran stage and screen star, will serve as host for the program. .Donald Voorhees and the Bell Telephone Orchestra will accompany the guest artists. Among the youngsters will be the four Lennon Sisters and the Little Singers of Paris, '30 boys from 10 - 16 years old. The grown-up- s will be represented on the program by Rosemary Clooney. Lisa Delia Case and Giorgio Tozzi, stars of the Metropolitan Opera, will sing a group of Christmas carols from other lands. |
