Show Teen Talks EAST HIGH SCHOOL By Saundra Schoenhals What has East High been doing lately? They certainly haven't been idle. There is a lot of whispering and questioning going on about the dance coming up on the 19th of December. I received a special tip that the HI Club is in charge of the decorations. de-corations. It's v r . , bound to be a success with such a great club in charge of the decorations. Last week the Cheerleaders were extra special busy with such things as the Christmas party whiqh was held on December 12th. Lee Beck-stead Beck-stead was "busy hurrying ground, trying to get everything done by this special date. The Christmas party was a fabulous success. Last Sunday, December 13, the East High School music department put on their traditional Christmas program. The East High School orchestra opened the program wi th The National Anthem. After the orchestra had played a number, the Senior Choir started the singing off with Gloria Patri. This start wasn't anything short of "Great." The A'Cappella then sang OCome, O Come . Emanuel, followed bv Fum, Fum, Fum. Susan dinger was certainly terrific as the soloist for The Oxen. Some of the other numbers sung by the A'Cappella were He is Born, in which Joyce McKay played a flute solo, Jingle Bells, Carol of the Drum, Silent Night, . featuring Nelden Maxfield as the reader, and O Holy Night. On 0 Holy Night the Senior Choir joined the A'Cappella and soloists Sharon Schiff, Michael Keddington, and Sereta Welch. When Carol of the Drum was played there was a special treat in store. Sally Anderson, Linda Clawson, Pamela Macey, Joyce McKay, Joan Nicholson, Margaret Orme, Pat Peterson, Carol Selander, Kathy Sinclair, Vicki Speros, Bonnie Vernon, Nolene Wright and Helen Hawkins, choreographer, had a special dance that was extra dazzling. dazzl-ing. Many of those in attendance agreed that this dance is one of the many things that made this program such a success. Some of the many fabulous numbers that the orchestra played were Overture to The Messiah, Pastoral Symphony, Yuletide Medley, - and the Toy Train. One of the extra, out of the ordinary, was The Twelve Days of Christmas in which both the A'Cappella and the Junior Choir sang. A Medley of Carols was sung bv the Audience. Choirs, Glee Clubs, and accompanied by the orchestra. This gave the audience a chance to' clap for themselves, after all their applause they gave this terrific program. The program was then summed up by the Hallelujah Chorus which was sung by the Choirs, Glee Clubs, and the orchestra accompanied this number. num-ber. All the past Choir members were invited to join in on this number. The program was held at the Highland High School, community, auditorium.. .This is a beautiful assembly hall with lots of room. Regardless of the 2,500 seats in this auditorium there still wasn't enough room for all the audience that came to see this program. There was still quite a number that stood in the halls. The directors of'.the Vocal Music were Miss Lorraine Bowman, and Mr. Vernon J. Miller. The Director of Instrumental Music was Mr. Dow H. Young, and the Director of Dance was Mrs. Connie Jo Hep-worth. Hep-worth. The program was presented by the East High School P. T. A. |
