Show INDEPENDENT SUGAR HOUSE ,UTAH THURSDAY AUGUST 20 1959 PAGE FIVE WAVE Recruiters Visit Gty Representatives of the Navy's "better half, the women's arm of the Navy, were in Salt Lake City on the 18th of August on an in-formation trip to interview Navy Women applicants. Lieut. Grace O. Fisk, Navy Nurse Corps and Personnel Man Second Class Alice S. Hyson of the Waves were at the Recruiting Station this week. Interested student and profess-ional nurses and high school grad-uates have excellent opportunities to further their training in the field of nursing or in 25 fields of endeavor at Navy expense. Young women who have al-ready graduated from a 4-y- ear college are eligible to attend a continuous sixteen-wee- k training session leading to a commission, as a WAVE Officer at Newport, Rhode Island. Women still in col-lege may attend the WAVE Of-ficer Candidate School during the sumeer vacation of their junior LT. "He'll be quiet in a moment when he gets to the poisons." " ' ' - : r f SECOND CLASS ALICE S, HYSON Sorvicemcn Ita Fort Ord, Calif. Army Pvt. Robert A. Weddington, son ofMrs. Elsie Weddington, 1749 S. Ninth E., Utah, completed the eight-wee- k general supply course July 31 at Fort Ord, Calif. Weddington received instruc-tion in the fundamentals of Army supply procedures and the pre-paration of supply records and forms. He entered theArmy last March and completed basic training at Fort Ord. A 1954 graduate of Alamosa (Colo.) High School, the 22-year-- soldier attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and was employed by J. C. Penney Company in Salt Lake City, be-fore entering the Army. U. S. Forces, Germany Army MSgt. Truby F. Hays, whose wife, Madeline, lives at 201 W. Convent St., Sequin, Tex., recently arrived in Germany and is now a member of the 82nd Ordnance Battalion. Sergeant Hays, assigned to the battalion's Headquarters De-tachment, entered theArmy in 1939. He attend ed Elko (Nev.) High School. The sergeant is the son of Orvill Hays, 1946 Claybourne Ave., Salt Lake City, Utah. Ice Show Set For Fair The 15th sparkling and all-ne- w edition of Holiday on Ice is coming to Salt Lake City for a 10 day engagement at the Utah State Fair. The show will open on Friday, Sept. 11th, with a star-studd- ed cast, including a trio of stars who headed the record-breakin- g Moscow engagement of Holiday. Joan Hyldoft, Arnold Shoda and Alice Quessy scored with the Rus-sian audiences in the first ice show ever viewed there. The ever-popul- ar Phil Hiser will be skating down "Memory .Lane" once again after a tour of Europe and new-come- rs to U, S. audiences will be Alice Quessy, Tommy Allen and novelty enter-tainers, Rudy Docky and Baptist Schreiber & Co. Opulent production features in the 15th anniversary show are "The Lancers", "The Legend of the Black of the Black Pearl", "Continental Circus", "Gaelic Holiday" and 22 other fast -- paced acts packaged happily between th sparkling opener, "Crystal Ann-iversary" and the dazzling finale, "Rhapsody in Rhythm and Color." Holiday on Ice of 1960 starts Friday, Sept. 11th and will remain at the Fair throughSept. 20.
