Military Exams November 7th Attention, voung men I On Nov. 7th examinations will be held to determine appointments at the Mi-litary Academy, Naval Academy, and the Air Force Academy. You must be at least 17 and not more than 22 years of age as of July 1, 1960. You must be unmarried, in excellent physical condition, and must agree to serve at least 3 years after graduation from the Naval Academy or 4 years after graduation from the Air Force or Military Academies. The November exam will be given in the following cities in Utah: Beaver, Cedar City, Delta, Dugway, Logan, Manti, Moab, Og-de- n, Panguitch, Price, Provo, Richfield, Salt Lake City, St. George, Tooele, and Vernal. Pixton, 2048 St. Mary's Drive, is attending the Army War Col-lege at Carlisle Barracks, Pa. The ten-mon- th course is sched-uled to be completed in June 1960. The Army's senior education pro-gram prepares selected officers for future assignments to top staff and command positions in the Armed Forces, and other keygov-ernme- nt positions. Colonel Pixton entered the Army in 1940. He was graduated from East High School in 1935 and from the University of Utah in 1940. Pixton is a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Fort Benjamin Harrison, Ind.--Ar- my 2nd Lt. Byron L. Poelman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hendrik Poelman, 855 East 13th South, completed the officer basic course on Sept. 18 at the Adjutant Gen-eral's School, Fprt Benjamin Har-rison. The course is designed to fam-iliarize newly-commission- ed of-ficers with general administration procedures and the technical and tactical responsibilities of an ad-jutant. The 25-ye- ar old officer. is an East High graduate, 1952, and re-ceived his bachelor's degree in 1959 from the University of Utah. Fort Ord, Calif.--Arm- y Pvt. Eugene T. Hintze, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Hintze, 4651 Lo-cust Lan, is receiving food service training at Fort Ord. The training is scheduled to terminate on Oct. 2nd. Hintze is being trained in cooking baking, and meat cutting. A 1959 graduate of Juab County High School in Nephi, he entered the Army in May and completed basic training at Fort Ord. Service Clubs KIWANIS CLUB OF SUGAR HOUSE Tuesday, September 29th, at noon the Kiwanis Club of Sugar House met for their regular lun-cheon. They had a double feature, with Governors Ellsworth and Memmott of the Utah -- Idaho Dis-trict as speakers. Dr. P. Blair Ellsworth is the Governor of the. District and hails from Idaho Falls. Clifton N. Mem-mott is the Lt. Governor and is the owner of the Uintah Basin Standard. The new Lt. Governor of Division 2 is Joe Sehee, now president of the Sugar House Club. |
