Show Vision Screening Program to Begin In October A group of 33 volunteers, sponsored spon-sored by the Salt Lake City Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Gamma Sorority and under the direction of the Utah committee of the National . Society for the Prevention of Blindness, will hold vision screening clinics for four and five years olds in the Granite School District this month. The program has the backing of the school officials, the P. T. A., and the Dept. of Public Health Nursing. The testing program is valuable val-uable because it enables the child with a vision defect to be treated early when there is a better chance for successful treatment and before the defect becomes an emotional, emo-tional, psychological, or educational educ-ational handicap to the child. It also familiarizes the child with the screening procedure so that he may be more readily screened when he reaches school age. Officers of the program are: Mrs. Lawrence L. Palmer, Jr., 2248 Texas St., chairman of the Utah Committee of the national organization; Mrs. David H. Payne, 3132 Celeste Circle, project chairman; chair-man; Mrs. Kent Shearer, 1215 Third Avenue, supply chairman; Mrs. Renold L. Bowden. 422 S. 1st W., appointments chairman; and Miss Valentine Gorlinski. 326 E. South Temple, record keeper. Screenings will be held at: Magna Elem. Oct. 5; Kearns Elem., Oct. 7; Madison Elem..
