Tender, an; Mary Beth Maxfield and Mr. Jackson, in chage of occupational therapy at the Veteran's hospital admir thousands of poppies made by the veterans for the annual sale. ANNUAL POPPY DAYS Some 95 Utah units of the American Legion Auxiliary will sell the familiar little red crepe papep poppy on May 25, the Sat-urday before Memorial Day. In some towns this date will vary to suit local conditions. Every Legion poppy purchased and worn on that day is the product of a disabled veteran hospitalized at Sajt Lake Veterans Hospitals. Over a three month period this past winter, patients fashioned entirely by hand, approximately 150,000 of the little flowers. Nearly $2,200 was paid these men for their part in the annual poppy sale. Citizens are reminded that the American Legion poppy alone is unique in that every cent of the proceeds is used for the di-rect emergency relief of vete-ran's families, their widows and orphaned children. No part of the funds is used in the promo-tion and sale of the poppy itself, nor for salaries of any member or employee of the Legion or Auxiliary. Mrs. L. A. Ward, 1871 Conner Street, is state poppy chairman. Mrs. Ward directed the work at the hospitals and perfected de-tails for the state wide street sale.
