No. 36 Sugar House, Utah Thursday, September 18, 1958 Price 10 Cents Campaign Kick-Of- f For Annual United Fund To Be Held September 22 The general "Kick Off" of the United Fund Campaign will begin on the morning of Monday, September 22. The Area's 30 United Fund Agencies opened their doors on Monday morning, Septem-ber 15, to show the general public who support them just how the money is spent. The agencies were open to the public during the entire working week of September 15 to 19 inclusive during the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. "United Fund-Agenc- y Week is part of the educational pro-gram to make the people of the Salt Lake Area aware of the vital community programs being conducted daily within Catholic Charities, Children's Service Society, Dental Service Society, Neighborhood House, Reading Room for the Blind and the Utaho Association for the BJind, Utah Society for Crippled Children and Adults, Salvation Army, Y.M.C.A., Y.W. C.A. Traveler's Aid. Because of the nature of the Jewish Relief Society -- St. Mark's Charity - United Cerebral Palsy - U.S.O. and Multiple Sclerosis the "open house" as such, will not be held according to Mr. Steele. Personnel of the United Fund Building will explain functions of these particular organizat-ions to anyone who is interes-ted. the walls of these agencies, "said Mr. Harold J. ' ' J - l Ti Fall Classes At Craft House Start In Oct. The fall classes at Craft House will begin the week of October 22. Registration for the classes will be held Mon-day, October 22 from 9 a.m.' to 9 p.m. and from 9 to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday of the week.- - There are no enrollment fees in any Guild Classes for persons 18 years of age or under, or for community leaders teaching crafts in organizations. All other registrants will pay the annual fee of $6.00. Chamber The Sugar House Chamber of Commerce held it's weekly meeting at the Beau Brummel, yesterday noon at which time the group elected the directors for the coming year. ' The new members elected were: Vem W. Mackay.vice president of Walker Bank. Mrs. Frankie Nielson, mgT. of Jarnel's. Walter O. Peterson, owner of Sugar House Awning and Paint. Stephen C. He has recently returned from a trip to, Russia where he had occasion to view Russia from a foreigners angle. He gave the point of view as a businessman and a business comparison does not meet the' approval of a Free Enterprise businessman. Sugar House Stake To Present . Father of The Bride The Sugar House Stake will present the comedy "Father of the Bride", Thursday and Friday, September 25 and 28 at the Park Stake Center. In the title role Is Vernon Proctor, Stake MIA Superin-tendent. The play is being presented to raise funds to pay for the 'stake's share of the Woodland Girls Camp. Days Of '47 Leaders Meet Officers and directors of Days of '47, will hold their annual meeting Wednesday, Sept. 24 at noon in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers board room, it was announced by Joseph L. Chandler, Days of '47 president. Reports of 1958 activities, including a financial report of this year's pioneer celebration will be presented, Mr. Chand-ler said. Days of '47 directors for 1959 will be elected at the meeting, it was pointed out, so that preliminary plans might be laid in the near future for next July's celebration, which com-memorated the arrival of the Mormon pioneers in the Salt Lake Valley. Days of '47 executives are scouting now for new talent and new programs to be pre-sented next year, according to Mr. Chandler. "A,1 great increase of interest has been noted throughout the entire state in Days of '47 activities during the last few years", Mr. Chandler said. "In fact", he added, "each year more and more national at-tention is being focused upon our celebrations." A reception will honor the young couple that evening at the Bonneville Stake House.
