The outstanding program and social hour will include musical numbers, readings, games and fun for all. Nina B. Xeff, Captain and Bar-bara Eeasley, are in charge of the affair and announced new members and those interested in joining the Daughters of Utah Pioneers are especially invited to attend the luncheon. MOUNTAIN CLUB RETAINS PRES. The Wasatch Mountain Club has re-elect- ed Harold Goodro, 2350 E. 48th South St., for his fourth con-secutive term. The 175-memb- er group also named Jim Shane as vice president, Clara Sundwall as secretary and Don Pearson as treasurer. Mr. Goodro is well-know- n in the valley for his climbing and skiing activities. He was a member of the first expeditionary group to penetrate the bottom of Neffs Cave on Mt. Olympus in 1953. Lovely Miss Topham became bride of Wallace Adrian Wright, Jr. in an impressive home ceremony Saturday evening. Mrs. Topham - Wallace Wright Ricite Vows In Home Rites j Now honeymooning are just-we- ds Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Adrian Wright, Jr., who were united in marriage Saturday evening at the home of the bride's parents Mr. and Mrs. Earl Topham, 2476 East 3080 South. The new Mrs. Wright wras Miss Jeralynn Topham, popular Univer-sity of Utah student, and attend-ant to1 Miss Sugar House. For her wedding she chose a gown of blue-whi- te silk organde fashioned with molded bodice, short sleeves and schoop neckline. The bouffant skirt swept into a chapel train. Her bridal veil of illusion was released from a dainty white blue lace and Mrs. Wright chose a champaigne shade of silk for her gown. Ray Lusty stood with the groom as best man and Kent Topham, brother of the bride, and Richard Jones were ushers. Immediately following the cere-mony the young newly weds were feted at a reception. For traveling the bride wore an white accessories. The newly-wed- s have been at-tending the University of Utah where the bride is a member of Chi Omega and the bridegroom is vice president of Beta Theta Pi, president of the Inter Fraternity Council. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Topham wore a sheath dress of EMC LIONS TO ELECT OFFICERS The East Mill Creek Lions club will elect officers Thursday even-ing and p.m. at Harmans Cafe, 1270 East 21st South, according to Eugene D. Duffin, president. Lady Lions will elect new offi-cers at the joint meeting, and 19 new members will be installed. Major General Maxwell E. Rich, Adjutant General of the State of Utah, will speak on the part the National Guard plays in defense. The program will also include vocal solos by Capt. William Black, oper-atic tenor. PTA GROUPS ELECT OFFICERS FOR FALL T w o Farent-Teach- er Assn. groups, one in East Mill Creek and the other in Cottonwood, have elected new officers. Mrs. Barr E. Quist of 5346 Highland Dr. has been named new resident of the Oakwood Elemen-tary PTA. She was elected at a meeting held recently at the school, 5935 Highland Dr.., and will suc-ceed Mrs. Elias W. Day. Mrs. Clarence W. Reese will serve as new vice president; Mrs. Harry A. Shaw, new secretary; Mrs. John H. Makinen, treasurer, and Mrs. Ted Hansell, chairman of the nominating committee. At the East Mill Creek Elemen-tary School. 39th South and 11th East St., Mrs. Clarence W. Shore was elected new president. Named new first vice president was Mrs. Earl Jones. Mrs. George Iverson will be new secretary and Mrs. Kenneth O.-Melb- treasurer. Principal Reho Thorum will serve as second vice president. Area Service Men Cliosen Outstanding Trainee Pvt. Garry D. Penney, 2732 E. 3185 South, and Pvt. Alvin Emery, 4085 Cumberland Dr., have been named outstanding trainees of their units at Fort Ord, Calif. Pvt. Penney, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Darwin R. Penney, received the honor for outstanding service during the month of April. He is a member of the Utah National Guard undergoing six months training under the U. S. Reserve Forces Act. He is a mem-ber of Battery B., (53rd Field Artillery Observation Battalion in Salt Lake City. Pvt. Emery is assigned to the Regimental Guard at Fort Ord. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilford N. Emery. Beesley's Settled In Oakwood Ave. Home Mr. and Mrs. William Beesley are now settled in their lovely new home at 3305 Oakwood. The Beesleys sold their home at 2410 Evergreen and purchased their present home and after remodeling and redecorated are enjoying its spaciousness. Forest Hills Lions Name New Slate Carence F. Mitchell, 1671 East 39th South, was elected president of the Forest Hills Lions recently at the meeting at Peelers Forest Hills Cafe. He succeeds Henry S. Nygaard. Others elected were Don McSon-se- n, Palmer Cushman, second vice president; Julian Rasmussen, third vice president; Richard Nygaard, secretary-treasure- r; Paul Rafferty, Tail-twiste- r; Arvin Epp, Lion-tame- r. Two year directors include Roy Featherstone, Elmer Butler, Steart Pett and Don Sorensen. Of-ficers will be installed formally June 1st at the Ft. Douglas Golf Cub. 03 to? Coon of Holladay has been elected president of the Salt Lake Exceptional Child Parent-Teach- er Assn. Elections were held last Friday. Mr. Coon, a music teacher in the Salt Lake City School system, resides at 2885 Nila Way. He will be installed with other officers at the first fall meeting in October. |
