Try this new recipe introduced at the Newspaper Food Editor Confer-ence in Chicago no long baking or aging, you just chill and serve the cake. Mystery Fruitcake 1 pkg. Betty Crocker Honey V2 cups seedless raisins Spice, Yellow, White, or Devils (V2 lb.) Food Cake Mix 1 cup dates, cut up 4 cups candied mixed fruit (two (GV-o- z. pkg.) 1-l- b. jars) 44 cups pecan halves (1 lb.) l2 cup each whole red and green 1 pkg. Betty Crocker Fluffy candied cherries Y2 lb.) White Frosting Mix Make cake as directed on package. Cool. Crumble cooled cake into large bowl and add rest of ingredients. Make Fluffy White Frosting Mix according to package directions and add to fruit, nuts, and cake mixture. Stir with spoon or toss together with hands until mixture is damp and blended together. PACK TIGHTLY into two foil lined Vox-Vte- or two 9x5x3" loaf pans. Pat down with buttered hands until smooth. Cover cake with foil and chill in refrigerator at least 24 hours. Cake improves if stored longer. Cake should be kept refrigerated. Slice with sharp knife and serve cold. Makes 6fo-6- . fruitcake. For smaller fruitcake: Follow recipe above except, use only 1 layer of cake and half of fruit and nuts, and use only half prepared frosting mix in, fruitcake. PACK TIGHTLY into one foil-line- d loaf pan. Ice remaining layer with rest of icing. kpmm era Tne Apprentice Builders group of the Centenary Methidist Church will meet January 3, and a speaker will be present. Dr. Carroll Hurd has been tentatively scheduled as guest speaker. There will be a discussion period followed by refreshments. Meeting for the month will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Fernandez, 1414 West-minster Ave. The group is composed of young married couples of the church whose object fellowship and homebuilding in the Method-ist Church tradition, The group will meet at 8:00 p.m. Centenary Church is host to the Utah sub-distri- ct mid-wint- er Youth Fellowship, Dec.27th thru the 29 th. The program will begin on Friday the 27th, at 2:00 pjn. and run . through 12:30 on Sunday. This will include worship, study, discussion fun and food. The program is planned by the Youth Council for the area which includes Methodist churches in Utah, Southern Wyoming and Eastern Nevada. The classes will deal in area of Philosophy, our Bible and our heritage, under direction of Wade Springborn, Robert Jtstea, and Thomas Adrori, all student ministers. The banquet speaker" for Saturday' evening will be Rev. Howard Rice and speaker for communion will be Rev. Fred Napier of Midvale Method-ist Church. Rev. Glen Hamlin is host pastor. Messages on the meditation of the New Year will be given three different times, during, the evening,, at 8:00 p.m., 8:30 pjn. and 9:00 p.m. Christmas Party The Christmas Social of the Jamberi Club was held Sat-urday evening at the EL Gaucho, 3618 Highland Drive. The formal event began with the social hour at 7:30 p.m. and dancing followed the 8:30 dinner. The theme was White Christmas, and decorations in-cluded minature trees and white snow men on each table. Gifts were exchanged during the evening. Committee in charge included Mr. and Mrs. A. Bath, Mr. and Mrs. Chriscol and Mr. and Mrs. T. Welch. ELECT OFFICERS Current officers of the Utah Press Women were re-elect- ed Saturday to serve for another year, announced Mrs. Olive W. Burt, president. Serving with heif will be Mrs. Margaret Masters, vice president; Mrs. Marba Josephson, secretary; and Miss Allie Howe, treasurecr. Guest speaker far the luncheon was Herbert F. Kretchman, editorial writer for the Salt Lake Tribune. He spoke on "Press Views Youth." He said that the press views youth as carriers, readers, delinquents and as responsible members of society. |
