I. ' . New Subscription Renewal Extension f ' Ballet Opens For Yule Season The Nutcracker Ballet opens a five day run in Kingsbury Hall tonight at 8:30. There is something in this lovely fairy tale to enchant almost everyone. There is more to enchant in the University of Utah-Uta- h Sym-phony production than in any other performance in the United States. Youngsters will love the Christmas story, especially the scene where the Christmas tree grows and grows and grows and grows right before their eyes. Music lovers will thrill to Tschiakowsky's full orchestra-tion under the baton of the anthusiastic Maurice Abravanel. Dance enthusiasts will be pleasured anew at the delight-ful and exciting choreography created by William Christencen and performed by members of the University Ballet and stars from the San Francisco Ballet. Those persons who prefer vocal music will find a treat in the performance of a er choral group handpicked from the U of U choirs. Nancy Johnson and Richard Carter are the guest artists in this third annual holiday season presentation. Performance of the Nutcracker Ballet will be given Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday, December 26, 27, 28, 30, and 31 at 8:30 p.m. A Saturday matinee will be shown at 2 p.m. sity Theatre Ballet Society. A reception is being held immed-- and Mrs. A. Ray Olpin, Miss Nancy Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Carter; principals and ensemble of the University Ballet, and members of the Utah Symphony. Ballet Society Feted At Reception Thursday, December 26, Mrs. Adiel F. Stewart will pour at a tea to be given at the Univer-iatl- y following the first perform-ance of the Nutcracker Suite Ballet, at approximately 10: 30 p.m. It will be held In the upper campus of the University of Utah.
