Show irrigation experiment shows need for utah water study committee previews utah agrical agricultural tural problems at meet I 1 major agricultural lems were reviewed and discussed february 14 and 15 at a confer ence 0 of f the state la land nd use planning subcommittee sub committee in salt lak city under supervision of the uta state agricultural college efte i sion service with director IND vi liam peterson in charge during the session of the fis fi s day reports given by rep esenna tives of the states six district pointed out that utah needs morl more land to take care care of the youn barric I couples who are concentrated on small areas that sol soi fertility is being depleted thoua faulty irrigation practices ano anc lack of crop rotation that moc mo c irrigation water should bi ba stor d d 1 during the cpr spring ing run oft soa sea on that better use should ba ma e barnyard manure and com in arc a fertilizers that greater eff r is needed in ridding lands of no ious weeds that the farm debt d abt is I 1 far too high tor for utah that tha t w ter sheds ana and ranges are being stripped of their vegetative cover aio eroded that an adjustment is is needed in the use usa made available water and that farm lands I be improved in many counties out of the discussions came a united opinion that many of these problems can be solved by the farmers themselves by taking inventories ven tories of the states natural resources by studying improving methods of farming and by adopting programs of work which will best outline the resources at hand |
