Show fort duchesne randlett road to be rerouted re routed new highway will travel doil west side ot of the vintah uintah river kivor state road commission and indian department WEI corporate on construction the new highway between fort duchesne and randlett to be built by the indian department and maintained by the utah state road commission will be re rout ed douglas F larsen darrid engineer for the utah state road commission who was in roosevelt last weekend week end reported 7 the e new road will travel straight bouti souti from highway 40 fol following lovin 9 the e alc post road to fort Duc duchesne heln and then continue on strai straight gilL south instead of turning cast at the south end of fort duchesne south of fo fort t duchesne it will connect with the old randlett road traveling east to randlett and avalo and then turn south to ouray th road will be routed along the wes side of the uintah rive of the east in order to accommodate a large number of people ant an for better maintenance purposes mr larsen said new bridge over the dry gulch two and one oaie half miles south of fot duchesne the state will build a 10 bridge plans and specifications for the bridge are now boing being drawn up in the salt lake office and work should be started by january mr air larsen reported ported the indian department will grade and gravel the surfaces surface of the road from fort duchesne to randlett and when work is corn completed the state highway commis sion will take over the maintenance of the road from fort duchesne to ouray which will be designated as a state highway upalco road mr larsen said that work on tile the surfacing resurfacing re of the upalco altonah alzonah road is going forward and that the tha rough grading work will be completed this w week eek surfacing has been delayed he reported because of the difficulty experienced by the equipment company from whom a rock roch crusher was purchased to secure parts for it from the factory it is believed however that the crusher will be assembled and ready for work within the next ten jays the rock crusher will wil be bc located about half way between upalco and mt aft emmons and ia i weather conditions permit will continue operations during the winter winfer cold weather has been an ait aid to construction operations it wa va pointed out because the frozen ground was hard enough to holi hole up the caterpillars while they dug 1 up tha road and tore out rocks and dirt at the present time approximately 40 men are employed on this project and W D core is engineer and superintendent lent of construction st |
