representatives of lions clubs throughout eastern utah and western colorado members of the chamber ot of commerce from salt lake city ogden provo and denver deliver colorado representatives of 0 the utah state road commission W D risher and the honorable abe Al murdock met in session tor for the purpose of urging the completion bt bf high highway vay 40 between denver ind and salt lake city the affair was held at the instance of the lions club of vernal in the gymnasium of 0 the uintah high school building where an excellent banquet I 1 et of 0 venison was served to t LE the 0 guests L G noble president of the vernal club officiated at the ceremonies em onies and first introduced mayor rice hice cooper of vernal who welcomed the visitors to the city he then turned the program over to hugh colton uintah county attorney and secretary of the laiwa ll ins club who acted as toastmaster purpose of party outlined senator hyrum B calder was called upon first to explain the purpose of calling together this great body of representatives along the route of highway 40 mr calder said that utah and Po colorado lorado were joining hands tor for the up building development and advancement of eastern utah and western colorado but not only can we see the development of these sections but in the center of our thoughts we are working towards a great transcontinental highway from the to the pa pacific cefic he stressed the importance bor tance and value of united effort in accomplishing the ends of this meeting the completion of highway 40 between denver and salt lake city denver pacific denver transportation por tation company voiced their willingness to cooperate with utah and urge colorado to tile the completion of the highway in that state they reported that denver la Is rotary club and chairman of the chamber of commerce uintah basin committee spoke first and introduced R E folland road chairman of the chamber of commerce who said that he had bad always felt that the completion or of 40 would bring tourist travel to salt lake city and his group had always been behind the movement state senator julian bamberger slid said that the chamber of commerce had faith in
