Show APPROPRIATIONS ALLOW IN-CREASE IN-CREASE IN DEIORTATIONS Washington, IX C. An Increase of neurly $2,000,000 in the appropriation approp-riation for the Bureau of Immigration, Immigra-tion, granted by the Inst Congress, will likely enable the Bureau to increase in-crease the number of deportations of aliens by from 1,000 to 2,000 annually, an-nually, It was stated orally by Harry E. Hull, Commissioner General Gen-eral of Immigration. Deportations totalled 10,031 during the last fiscal fis-cal year. The ranks of the border patrol will be Increased by about 225 men, thus permitting & much more careful care-ful lookout, along the national boundaries for (aliens attempting to enter the country illegally. The additional ad-ditional funds also will allow the Bureau to add about 150 men to the force of immigrant inspectors inspect-ors and to augment the clerical staff to take care of a greater volume vol-ume of work resulting from the increase in-crease in other parts of the Bureau's Bu-reau's organisation. ' j The appropriation of the Bureau of Immigration for the 1932 fiscal year was set by Congress at $10,-934,100; $10,-934,100; which is a gain of $il,-92121)0 $il,-92121)0 over the $0,012.9CO for the present fiscal year. Of the total increase, in-crease, $1,011,570 will go to the immigration im-migration field service, including the staff of immigrant, inspectors; $500,3)10 will he allotted to the border bor-der patrol ; $58,270 will be used for the Washington office; and $.151,000 will go for repairing and rf modeling Immigrant stations. |
