Show MANY CHANGES IN POSTAL RATES ANNOUNCED A number of the postal laws and regulations were amended by a law enacted feb 2 1925 this law changes the postage rates on various classes of mail matter which changes become effective april 15 1925 the changes in rates briefly stated are as follows first class the only change in ordinary first class rates is that raising the rate irom from 1 cent to 2 cents on private mailing cards post cards which includes all picture cards holiday greeting cards etc postal cards the regulation card supplied by the post office department remains at 1 cent second class there are a number of minor changes in the rates applying to second class mail publications but as they are somewhat complicated and concern only the publishers space will not be taken here to list them second class mail all news papers and periodicals when re mailed by the public must be paid for at th the e rate of 2 cents tor for each 2 ounces or traction fraction thereof up to and including 8 ounces in excess of that weight fourth class rates bill ill apply third class all mail matter now ot of the third class and all 0 of the fourth class up to and including 8 ounces will be third class aind aad the postage will be 1 cents tor for each 2 ounces or fraction thereof fourth class all mail now of the third class and all of the fourth class in excess of 8 ounces in weight will be considered fourth class mail and the present rates ot of postage will apply with the exception of 0 an additional charge of 2 cents tor for each parcel registered dima the only change in registry fees is on domestic matter for registering matter indemnified indemnifier tor for 50 or less the tee fee will be 15 cents for matter indemnified indemnifier for mor then 50 but not more than the tee fee will be the sape same as at present 20 cents cher a return receipt is required an additional charge ot of 3 cents will be made insured mail the tee fee lor for insurance shall be 6 5 cents tor for indemnification not mot to exceed 5 8 cents tor for indemnification not to exceed 25 10 ce cents n ts for tor indemnification not to exceed 50 and 25 cents tor for indemnification mot to exceed the only change being in the two smaller tees fees return receipt 3 cents extra 0 0 D mail MAII the tee fee tor for collect on delivery service shall be 12 cents tor for collections not to exceed 10 15 cents tor for collections not to exceed 50 and 25 cents tor for collections not to exceed all lees fees whether lor for registered insured or C 0 D mail are in addition to regular postage postage special handling any parcel indorsed endorsed Indor sed with the words special handling and upon which is paid a tee fee of 25 cents in addition to the regular fourth lass class postage shall receive the same expeditious handling transportation and delivery accorded to mall mail of 0 the first class special delivery special delivery charges tor for mall mail matter weighing imore than 2 pounds and not more than 10 pounds shall be 15 cents in addition to regular postage tor for matter weighing more than 10 pounds the charge shall be 20 cents bonts money order fees pees fees tor for issuing money orders shall be as follows lor for orders not exceeding 5 cents but not exceeding 5 7 cents 5 and not exceeding 10 10 cents 10 and not exceeding 20 20 cents 20 and not exceeding 40 15 cents 40 and not exceeding 60 18 cents 60 and not exceeding 80 20 cents 80 and not exceeding 22 cents |
