Show even though the water la Is low in the river the farmers are going right along with their farming and aro are rejoicing and are exceedingly glad for we have had several showers inthe in ahe last two iwo weeks and have helped wonderfully der fully along tho the growing line the regular sabbath services mere ors held in tile the hall sunday a RS it was mothers day and a large crowd was expected consequently a largo large room was ivas needed that Is why services word wea held in the hall rhe ilie morning session sion was well atte attended need and a goo gloo program was rendered all parts rendered were well chosen and suited to the occasion the afternoon session was wag very well attended and we had the pleasure of listening to the home missionaries sion aries who gave us some very interesting inte interesting te talks after which some of the mothers interested us its with some of their past experiences which were given in well chosen words and were pleasant to the nearer bearer james D bechani and others who were out shearing sheep have returned home and are arc going to lo try their hands nt at tilling the soil some of tile the farmers are very busy at present getting their few acres which have been standing tor for years without yielding anything they are row now getting it ready for irrigating and are going to make beneficial use of the water whereby they may prove up on it there are but very rew acres around here that will be left without water last tuesday evening a good roads meeting was held arid and various committees were appointed to investigate the roads and do dusome pome repair work every one who are not interested and enthused over the prospects pacts of the proposed through road from vernal to park city ought to have his tobacco taken from him and his pockets turned inside out for this road is the one which will benefit every one living in the upper country surveyors have been busy the last two weeks surveying sur eying investigating ti and hunting a good road site which will accommodate most of the people the surveyors say that they have found the way and have surveyed a line which will average a grade of three per cent hurrah Hur rall hurrah everyone ought to throw their hats and feet in the air and hurrah for the new proposed road which is claimed to be about seventy sevi e nty miles nearer than any other line which could be surveyed with the same percent of grade through to salt lake and everybody knows that seventy miles is a big item in road building now salt lake Is northwest of the most northern town in the uintah basin consequently the shortest route would necessarily necess ariy te ie as tar far north to the foothills as it could be gotten and stil retain the three per cent grade now that route has been found and going from east to west from vernal it passes through lapoint hayden neola Al tonah mountain home arid and other towns on nearly a straight line through to Stock more where it will join the road there which goes over the divide to park city and thence to salt la lake re there are several good reasons why this road should he be the main road through to zion first since the end in fit view is north of us what Is ill the e use in going south any further than the places just mentioned as ai it would b be necessary to conid come back north just juat the number of miles you von go south which distance would have to be twice as long and not gain any more miles closer to the ending point that is like wal walking walkiria kiri three miles to catch a horse horbe to get ride back one halt half mile on this new proposed route it a person chooses to go by auto lie he will find no steep climbs climbs nor no deep gullies to break the cars ile he may give his car a good drink any where he wishes without filling Us its lungs with sand and causing pneumonia if lie he wishes to go with team and wagon he will find all the necessaries for campers such as teed feed good water and plenty of good cedar wood for his comfort if he be wishes to travel alons along this road afoot lie he will find it more pleasant to sit in the shade of 0 the trees when resting which he will find frequently along this route than having to walk more miles to reach its hs destination many other good reasons why this new proposed prop obed route should be the main route through too country could be mentioned but space in this paper is scarce and the correspond ant feel like using the whole paper neola monarch and blayden ire are united and very much enthused and will hold a meeting slay may 11 14 and will instructed them that they were to sell the pencils for live cents each and the proceeds were to he be used to purchase a school nag flag which was to 0 o be used in the school bunding building well the flag arrived last week and the janitor was instructed to display it in the school room it Is a nice looking article for the money mone y which was paid for it have you noticed any change in the malls mails lately anda how low quick it comes in why one ot of the neola fico patrons remarked that the package came through from salt lake in just four days and in very good condition too when usually they come all broken up and alen taken out of the sacks they scatter nil all over the distributing table flable other words the floor the postmaster informs me that lie he is receiving p ach ores f s now and b has as done tor for tho the list three weeks which were ordered some time last winter and had been given up as lost we understand that the reason is that taht the mail Is being taken from on top of the divide and othir stations on the old mail route where st it has been stacked up all winter and people doing without their necessities all this time just because a few of the people wanted it to come the duchesne way but uncle took b hold old of the line and lie he soon found out that the mail could not go over that big hill where it has been trying to go for the last few years so he is taking it around by price which should have been done a long time ago in order to do the people justice and ail d fulfill the measure ot of the post postoffice office Bce department
