| Show PLANS FOR HIGH SCHOOL some elaborate plans have been f made mad for the duchesne county high school grounds the proposed landscape development for the duchesne high school were finished sat urd y by leroy beagley of the agricultural department while at the university of california last summer mr beagley took as his special problem in landscape gardening the systematic planning and beautifying of our country high school building and grounds 1 i in loo hooking kint over the plans one seeg sees that the designer possessed considerable forethought as to the future growth of the school we notice that a considerable area has been plan planned ried for general agricultural use most of this area will be devoted to crops having a cash return besides the general area a tract has been planned for experimental plots and students Vs gardens at the west side near house is planned the quarter mile race track foot ball field baseball diamond broad and high jumps and all the major school athletics A large grandstand to acco accommodate nim the spectators is joe located at ed on this portion of the campus just off the hill bill to the south of the main building are located the tennis courts the volley ball courts and an out door basket ball court to the south of these touY courts aAa ja located a good sized greenhouse and workhouse this will mean a big improvement to the school and will furnish a good laboratory for the students there is also planned a three story building 65 feet by 40 feet the basement of which will be used for blacksmithing and farm machinery the second floor floii is a designed for manual training the third floor used by the agri agricultural cultural department at the east of the main building where we we have nothing at present but i a large hole is planned a large formal flower garden with a foundation in the center of the large trees not yet planted there will bets be f aptt fet dut grass plots ever greens green shrubbery flowers ete etc around the building it is proposed to plant hard wood trees such as norway maple sycamore and white ash along the walks drives and streets mr beagley says it may take ten years to complete the proposed plans however they are unified whole and the plantings have been selected to hai moniz irbin our climatic tc conditions |
