Show communicated editor of the S standard tan dard dear sir lest there be a few readers of the free press w who few may be slightly misinformed by the context of the article appearing in the issue of july 29 it might be well to appraise them of the true condition which existed in reference to the baseball series which was played at roosevelt on july 23 and however this article is not intended as an antidote for the pestiferous pratt lings of those who feel peeved because they could not tell the roosevelt coleb celebration eb committee how roosevelt should conduct their celebration and especially the baseball series featured therein due to the fact that one of the teams which was asked to enter the series serie decided not to enter the indian team consented to enter if they would be permitted to use bunch larose a myton player muse harris a vernal player and elmer denver a roosevelt player at a meeting of the celebration committee the managers of the vernal the indian and the roosevelt teams it was agreed that three men should be allowed to play with the indian team but in so doing it would not affect them or their right to play with their respective teams during the remaining games of the series myton appeared friday noon and very officiously demanded that the three indian boys be disqualified for the rest of the series they were informed of the agreement and were asked to see the remaining men who were parties thereto they were told that muse harris would not be disqualified from the vernal team neither would elmer denver be disqualified from the roosevelt team and that they were at liberty to play bunch larose if they so desired it was then mr morrison ask cd who was the umpire and he was told that each participating team could choose one as there had none been provided then sir mr morrison said that unless dunles these three men who had played in the rn morning orning game with the indians i were disqualified the myton team would not play and very much to his chagrin he was told the committee would get another team this they did although the myton manager seemed to feel very assured that his protestations would be acted upon f favorably to his own desires because of the lateness of the hour and so near for the game to start but thanks to the generous generou ity sity and fair mindedness of those w who ho could see the injustice of the ostensible excuse myton used to drop out for another team was quickly brought together and the fhe afternoon was a decide success even though myton went home RAY E DILLMAN |
