STEVEN Cerri, Bob Ward, Haven Burningham and Bob Grammoll from the Bountiful Area Chamber of Commerce met before the city council to discuss the Benchmark Ben-chmark Master Plan. The Benchmark Region is comprised com-prised of the six cities of the area and has three areas of goals. PHASE 1 is the Foundation and was developed during 1984-85. Under this phase cooperation "as generated between the six cities, a focal point was developed, media tools were created, utilization of media tools and advertising. Requested funds were $71,800 with funds received at $4,000 and expended funds at $40,000. PHASE 2 is projected for 1985-86 and is entitled Awareness and Continuity. Con-tinuity. Here they will utilize Phase 1 tools, have Trade shows, have direct solicitation, broaden their cooperative efforts, and develop a Benchmark coordinator. Requested Re-quested funds stand at $100,000. 1986-90 is Phase 3 Continuity and Growth. During this time the goal is to have continuits of the Benchmark Region plans. In regards re-gards to the requested funds 35 percent per-cent of the funds will come from industry and 65 percent will come from the six cities of the Benchmark Ben-chmark Region. s AFTER THE presentation by Mr. Cerri Councilman Bud Ingles commented that there is something missing from this Benchmark Region Re-gion which was that there is no help to locate new businesses in this area. Mr. Cerri responded by saying that "Data Base" (in a computer file) is being processed to help with location of businesses in our area. ANOTHER question posed to the committee was by Irene Janes who asked, "Why were addresses listed in the South Davis Directory as Bountiful instead of West Boun tiful?" Bob Ward answered this question ques-tion because he was "over" the directory. He stated that they wanted to make it as easy as possible possi-ble for people to locate businesses. When people see listings as West Bountiful they think "west of the freeway" and many businesses with West Bountiful addresses are located "east of the freeway." For convenience sake that was their reasoning. IN CLOSING Mr. Cerri stated the Benchmark board wants to unite un-ite the six cities of the South Davis area together and find a focal point for each city. West Bountiful was also asked to give $4,600 to the Benchmark Region. Jay Dewell reported that he has released a purchase order for crack sealing on 220 North and in the Fackrell subdivision. He also has a list of pothole filling which he will review. Mr. Dewell also commented com-mented that the money has run out for striping of the roads and will have to wait til fall to do anymore. NEXT ON the agenda was Von Hill. He mentioned that he had a walkthrough with the contractor with a checklist of various items to be completed before final payment on the special improvement district. dis-trict. Street cleaning and a few minor things need to be done. Councilman Hill continued stating stat-ing everyone in the District received re-ceived a letter telling them the amount of their assessment, a brief explanation of the payment plan and a date of August 1 as the cut off date for tying into the system. After Af-ter that date the individual may be cited if they are not pumping into the system. THE BONDS will be sold on June 15 and the interest rate will be adjusted ad-justed when the bonds are sold. Figures Fi-gures used for the assessment take into consideration the administrative administra-tive costs, engineers fees, interest rate on the warrants, contractors fees, etc. Irene Janes reported that she met with county emergency personnel. per-sonnel. Mrs. Janes would like citizens to be aware she has the disaster video and to contact her to check it out. REMEMBER the annual poster and essay contest is May 29 and the Citizens Advisory Committee will be the judges. Bud Ingles met with the Planning and Zoning committee and reported re-ported to the city council about that meeting.
