Show Pike Found Guilty Gets 150 Days; Davis Makes Plea Norman Pike, 33, of Roosevelt, Roose-velt, was convicted last Friday in the Fourth Judicial district court at Duchesne, of writing and publishing lewd and indecent inde-cent material and was sentenced to serve 150 days in the county jail. Inasmuch as he had already served 60 days in jail. Judge R. L. Tuckett announced that if he served another 90 days it would constitute a full sentence. Mr. Pike was convicted by an 8-man jury and was represented, repre-sented, by Attorney Rulon J. Larsen, Duchesne and Salt Lake City, while County Attorney Earl Dillman represented the state. In the case of . the State of Utah vs. Edwin Davis, who was charged with selling liquor to an Indian, a plea of guilty was made by the defendant and his case was referred to the Adult Parole and Probation board for their study and recommenda- tions. According to Earl Dillman, county attorney, most generally the advice of the parole and probation board is accepted when such a cose is referred to them by the court; which indicates in-dicates they will follow the recommendation rec-ommendation of the board In the case of Mr. Davis. Counsel for the defendant was George E. Stewart, of Roosevelt. |
