Show Two Schools Send 29 To Sing In All-State Chorus Alterra and Roosevelt high schools will be represented with approximately 29 vocal students at the L.D.S. tabernacle in Salt Lake City on Friday, Oct. 13, when an all-state chorus will present an hour and one-half program for Utah's teachers, who will assemble for their annual an-nual Utah Teachers Assn. convention. con-vention. ' Students from all over the state will assemble in Salt Lake on Oct. 11 where they will be rehearsed six hours for two days prior to the program that will also be broadcast over KSL. Howard Swan, music instructor at Ocidental college in California, Cali-fornia, will direct and train the group. Vernon J. LeaMaster, Salt Lake City music supervisor, will be master of ceremonies. Clyde L. Johnson from the Alterra Al-terra school reported yesterday that -eight from his music department de-partment will join the chorus, and David C. Watkins, Roosevelt Roose-velt instructor, announced that , 21 have been approved from here. Alterra students are: Ila Rhae and Vivian McConkie. Ailsa Adams, Nina Jargensen, Johann Kappelmeir, E n s y n e Clark, Lynn White and Frank Bin-ham. Bin-ham. The Roosevelt group includes: Maurine Gilbert, Peggy Luke, JeNeal Pack, Helen Rudy, Glen-da Glen-da Walker,-Jerri Stinnett. Catherine Cath-erine Rowley, Naomi and Opal Timothy, LaJean Nielson. Lu-Deen Lu-Deen Anderson, Carol and Gloria Glor-ia Schaefermeyer and Janiece Anderson. Boys selected are El-don El-don Winterton, David Brinker-hoff, Brinker-hoff, David Kelsey. Kendall Schaefermeyer, Joe Reidhead and Alan Smith. The Utah Music Education Assn. who is sponsoring- the all-state all-state chorus, last year assembled a 110-piece orchestra that played for the USA'convention, and this year they are concentrating concen-trating on the vocal. phase oi the music program in the schools. |
