Show Parents Study Student Problems At RHS, Dec. 2 Principal Jensen Hopes For Large Attendance This Year The tables will be turned Friday, Dec. 2, on those parents who have children attending Roosevelt high school. This is Parents' Day. The kids get a vacation, and the parents go to the high school to find out how the children are doing' with their studies, Principal Lawrell Jensen says that Parents' Day is being held early this year so that parents and teachers may get together and correct student faults at the beginning of the school term, instead of toward the end, as was the case last year. Working together, Mr. Jensen says, teachers and parents can achieve a better working relationship rela-tionship with the student, and can coordinate his activities both at school and at home. The real object of Parents' Day is to facilitate cooperation between be-tween parents and faculty to insure that students get the most out of their high school career. Mr. Jensen hopes Parents' Day will draw a large number of parents to the high school. If parents have one child in school, they will receive a schedule sched-ule of their child's classes and attend them. If there are several children from a family in school the parents must themselves decide de-cide which classes they will attend. at-tend. At all times they may talk to the teachers regarding their children's work. During lunch hour, like the students, the parents will run through the lunch line. A two-and-a-half hour program pro-gram will commence at 1 p. m. An hour and a half of this time (will be spent by parents and teachers discussing individual student problems. The rest of the program will consist of musical mu-sical selections, songs, readings, and art exhibition of visual education ed-ucation machines recently purchased pur-chased by the high school. After school those parents liv- . ing outside of town will catch the buses for home. There will be no PTA meeting meet-ing Dec. 1. Instead it will .be held in conjunction with Parents' Par-ents' Day. |
