Show Ban On Overnight Parking Ordered Strictly Enforced The Roosevelt Police Dept. was authorized Monday night by the city council to strictly enforce the no-overnight parking park-ing regulations, which went into in-to effect July 24. Hotel proprietors had protested pro-tested that the overnight parking park-ing ban worked a serious handicap handi-cap on guests, as parking space, off Main and Lagoon streets, the area affected, is limited. Also there was the further objection ob-jection that overnight guests have no way of knowing the regulations. However, Roy Hall, street supervisor, said parked cars make it extremely; difficult for the street department to properly pro-perly clean the streets. After considerable discussion, the council voted to ban overnight over-night parking on Main and Lagoon La-goon streets and to publish its decision. In other actions the council authorized the Roosevelt Riding club to go ahead with a planned rodeo scheduled for Aug 23-24. Okeh'd a request by the Riding Rid-ing club that it be allowed to build a catch corral in South park as payment for money owed the city for use of the grounds at the July 24-25 rodeo, and discussed disposition of the Roosevelt airport, and the search for water at Leeton. No decision was reached with regard to the airport, and further fur-ther drilling at Leeton is held up until a drilling site can be obtained. |
