Show WOULD PREVENT HIRING OF ILLEGAL IL-LEGAL ENTRANTS WAlSiriNUTON, 1). C.A bill providing a penalty for Ihose consciously con-sciously employing aliens who have effected an illegal entrance into this country has been introduced in-troduced in the House of 1-pre-senta?ive8 by Representative Wright Patman of Texas. Such legislation will discourage aliens from seeking illegal entry, .Mr. Panwm believes, in addition to prompting those already here illegally il-legally to surrender, return home and thereby qualify for an opportunity oppor-tunity to reenter legally. "Our Government, through the Farm Board and the Agricultural Department, is telling the fanners to avoid overproduction next year," he added, "yet at the bumc time, our Government permits per-mits the Mexicans and o'.her immigrants im-migrants to come into this country coun-try without restriction as to number, num-ber, to engage in agricultural pursuits pur-suits and to take the jobs of American Am-erican laborers who must: turn to the farm as a means of support-in support-in themselves and their families. "A high tariff is proposed and levied on foreign-made manufac- v tnred goods on the theory that our laborers should not be compelled com-pelled to compete with the cheap labor in the facorieg abroad. The same principle and reasoning that exclude, or Nix foreign goods will support the theory that foreign laborers should not be allowed to enter our country in competition to American labor, and especially is this true when there is so much unemployment as there is now." |
